Church Planting

Launching more churches is a big deal at Redeemer. In fact, since the day our church started we made a commitment to give our time and 10% of our offerings toward starting new churches. We help church planters through coaching, networking, support and an on-site church planting residency.

A Leader in Church Planting

Redeemer has become a leader in church planting through networking, overseeing and coaching church plants.  One way we do that is through our involvement and leadership in several networkds.

Redeemer is highly involved in the Acts 29 Network and helps to oversee Acts 29 Network churches in the east Tennessee, western North Carolina and temporarily South Carolina. Acts 29 is an inter-denominational church planting movement that trains, funds and sends pastors into various cultures with the gospel to start new churchesThis year alone this network of new churches will plant 25 churches in the United States and at least that number in the nations of Mexico, Colombia, India, and Canada. Acts 29 has a prayer goal of starting 1000 churches in its first ten years.

We also help with two related, but smaller networks of church planters: The Greenhouse Co-Op and Advance the Church.  The purpose of these relationships is to provide missional church planting pastors with the encouragement, Gospel-centered training and networking that is required during the early formational seasons of their church plants.  To read the Advance the Church blog or see the next upcoming event, click here.  For the next Greenhouse Co-Op event in our area, click here.

Church Planting Residency at Redeemer

Redeemer is also open to considering hosting church planting residents in order is to equip them to become a spiritual leader who (1) strategically plants (2) a gospel-centered church (3) to reach a specific context.

This 9-month residency in Johnson City is designed for men who believe that God is calling them to launch a church in the next 1-2 years.  If accepted, you will receive mentoring and coaching in areas vital to church planting: leadership, discipleship, theology, preaching, strategies for launching as well as personal discovery and caring for your marriage and family.

This experience requires a lot of time and a faithful commitment to learn and grow as a church planter.  And since our resident will receive a large time investment, a personal stipend and possible funding, we will be very selective.
